#SlowDown for children safety

Aiming to promote safe school environments, the Fundación organized urban interventions in the surroundings of 3 public schools and 3 private schools in Montevideo, asking drivers to slow down near education centers.

Together with traffic police officers from the Municipality of Montevideo, children from these schools made a "human chain" stopping the traffic holding a banner and signs asking drivers to slow down. At the same time, staff from the Fundación together with entertainers handed out information leaflets on the importance of slowing down to protect children´s lives. Information leaflets were also handed out to students from each center to spread the word at home.

After the activity the officers answered questions on traffic from the children and provided advice to travel safely regardless of the means of transport used.

At the end of the activity, in two of the schools selected (School 167 and School 115), children painted a mural - with the help of a muralist- representing the message of the campaign.

These activities were carried out with the support of Safe Kids World Wide and the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety.
