Our work: Child road safety

Of all road users - and especially if we are talking about vulnerable road users - children are the only ones who do not decide for themselves their mobility and environment. It is we adults who, to a greater or lesser extent, decide for them: how, when and in what they move. In turn, given their physical and cognitive characteristics, for at least the first 7 years of life, children need help from adults to manage their mobility safely: detecting the presence of traffic, judging speed and distance, and learning the general rules.

Despite this, road traffic injuries are one of the leading causes of death among children and young people worldwide, and particularly affect developing countries, where 90% of the world's casualties occur.

That is why Child Road Safety is our focus of work, and we strive to position it in the public agenda of the region, at all levels of government and in the different communities.
