New technicians trained in child passenger safety

A new edition of the Child Passenger Safety training for trainers was held this week. The national program "Child Passenger Safety" has been implemented by Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez since 2017 thanks to the institutional and economic support of Banco de Seguros del Estado (BSE); together with the support of the National Highway Police Directorate and UNASEV. The same has contributed to generate greater knowledge on child road safety and promoted the use of child restraint systems (CRS) throughout the national territory.

The general objective of the course is to generate specific knowledge on safe child mobility from the perspective of safe systems for children, deepening the knowledge of the different forms of safe transportation on the roads, with a focus on Child Restraint Systems.

In this way, the more than 20 certified technicians who participated in the course (members of the National Highway Police Directorate, the State Insurance Bank, and the municipalities of Montevideo and Canelones) will be able to develop a global and integrated vision of child road safety, understanding Safe Systems as the basis for a comprehensive approach to the subject. At the same time, they will be able to reinforce concepts and tools related to Child Road Safety, incorporating the best practices; as well as to fix what they have learned through practice with the continuous accompaniment of the leading technicians to guarantee the correct learning on the installation of child restraint systems in private vehicles.
