Benefit show for child safety in traffic

After the opening of Coralinas, a vocal group made up of 13 women under the direction of Carmen Pi, and before the start of the Bochamakers' show, the president of the Foundation, María Fernanda "Nani" Rodríguez thanked the artists for participating in this event and all those present for collaborating with the organization.

"We work one hundred percent of our time to prevent children's road traffic injuries and deaths in Uruguay and other Latin American countries. If we adults respect traffic rules and follow the recommendations of experts, we should not have any children lose their lives or enter a serious emergency. There are countries that have achieved this. I may sound dreamy, but I think we can do it too," said Rodriguez.

The president of the Foundation informed that all the funds collected go to the actions, programs and training that the Foundation carries out in Uruguay, and closed her speech by thanking the companies that supported the event: SECURITAS, KATOEN NATIE, MACROMERCADO MAYORISTA, POND'S AND REDPAGOS.

Martin Buscaglia and his Bochamakers gave a two and a half hour concert where they reviewed Buscaglia's greatest hits, plus a couple of new songs that will make up a forthcoming album expected to be released in 2019. The Coralinas participated in several songs achieving unique versions.

"I feel that all of us involved were part of a powerful night, full of energy and vitality. It must be the mirror effect, reflecting all the energy and forcefulness with which they carry out their work all in the Foundation. It is a pleasure to be part of a cause that is literally vital", expressed Martín Buscaglia after the show.

Mateo Moreno, who is part of the great band that accompanied Martin Buscaglia called the Bochamakers, said that "hopefully the music is a vehicle on the road of road awareness.

After years of "Empresas en Movimiento", a fundraising event that was held through dinners to benefit the Foundation, since 2016 the Foundation has been committed to holding a massive annual event where the entire population can collaborate with the organization and its promotional work in children's road safety, while enjoying top-level national artists.

In 2016 the murga Agarrate Catalina participated in the Sodre Auditorium, in 2017 it was Luciano Supervielle's turn in the Solís Theatre, and in this 2018: Martín Buscaglia and his Bochamakers also in the Solís.

The national fundraising instances -together with the international contribution- are of vital importance for the Gonzalo Rodriguez Foundation to continue carrying out actions to avoid injuries and even death of children due to traffic accidents in the country.

Currently, the actions developed by the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation are part of the "Latin American Children Safe in Traffic" program, which, thanks to the support of the FIA Foundation, the Trafigura Foundation and the UPS Foundation, seeks to contribute to the reduction of risk factors associated with child road accidents, taking school environments as a starting point, by deepening knowledge about their current situation and expanding the network to cooperate in the creation of safe systems for children.

The Foundation would like to thank the staff of the Solís Theatre and Tickantel for all their support, the production company La Mayor and María Noel Minozzo for the TV and radio spots, Copiplan for the printed programmes, and Océano FM, Radiomundo, TCC, Teledoce, TV Ciudad and VTV for their support in broadcasting the concert.
