On 18 May, with the support of PAHO\/WHO Argentina, we held the virtual conference “Safe School Environment – a multidimensional approach”, where different success stories in our region on safe school zones and the importance of working on them were presented.<\/p>\n
This conference took place within the framework of the second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 – 2030, and presented not only the importance of generating Safe School Zones – which have a direct impact on one of the most vulnerable users of traffic, children – but also the success story of Guaymall\u00e9n, Mendoza, where the Foundation developed a sustained work together with the authorities to evaluate and modify school environments.<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda Eugenia Keller, National Advisor on Road Safety and Mobility for PAHO\/WHO Argentina; Claudia Adriazola-Steil, Director of Health and Road Safety for WRI; Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Pessano, Executive Director of the Fundaci\u00f3n Gonzalo Rodr\u00edguez; Cintia Brucki, Director of Planning for the Municipality of Guaymall\u00e9n; Luisa Rubio and Lina Garc\u00eda, from the District Secretary of Mobility of Bogot\u00e1; Sebasti\u00e1n Kelman, Director of the Training Center of the National Road Safety Agency of Argentina; Gilda Mart\u00ednez, Head of the Content Area of the Training Center of the National Road Safety Agency of Argentina; and Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rodr\u00edguez, President of the Fundaci\u00f3n Gonzalo Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n
“We hope that each of the attendees will have been inspired and will have the freedom and courage to propose new ways of working and ideas to their teams. We must remember that it is everyone’s responsibility, and that changes are largely brought about by the authorities who must lead the way. There are countries that have already achieved zero child traffic deaths, and that is where we must go,” said Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rodr\u00edguez at the end of the conference.<\/p>\n
