



{"id":37682,"date":"2018-02-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gonzalorodriguez.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/86fc0792528e69a9f3ac280a378976f60da5a107.jpg"},"modified":"2025-08-05T17:51:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T20:51:20","slug":"la-fundacion-gonzalo-rodriguez-y-el-gobierno-de-canelones-firman-convenio-para-promover-el-uso-de-sillitas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gonzalorodriguez.org\/en\/noticias\/la-fundacion-gonzalo-rodriguez-y-el-gobierno-de-canelones-firman-convenio-para-promover-el-uso-de-sillitas\/","title":{"rendered":"Agreement for Child Safe Mobility in Canelones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>The event was held at the Daniel Mu\u00f1oz conference room at the Palacio Municipal; among the attendees there were, Yamand\u00fa Orsi, Canelones Mayor, the General Pro-Secretary, Mrs. Gabriela Garrido, Canelones Pro-Secretary, Mr. Francisco Legnani, the President of Fundaci\u00f3n Gonzalo Rodr\u00edguez, Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rodr\u00edguez Bongoll, the National Road Safety Agency (UNASEV) Director, Alejandro Draper, the Traffic and Transport General Director, Marcelo Metediera, the Traffic and Road Safety Director, Mr. Omar Rodr\u00edguez, and traffic officers and other Canelones government officials.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Omar Rodr\u00edguez, Traffic and Road Safety Director considered the agreement to be \u201ca very important step\u201d; regarding Canelones work together with the Fundaci\u00f3n, he stated: \u201cThis has allowed us to work on Child Restraint Systems, and also to exchange policy designs available to us thanks to their international experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fundaci\u00f3n Gonzalo Rodr\u00edguez President highlighted the importance of this agreement and the commitment by Canelones Government to road safety. \u201cAs an NGO, this is a very important day for us. Although we have been working together for quite a long time, this agreement formalizes the commitment to safe child mobility that involves the road most vulnerable users, the children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fact that all areas of the provinces able to generate advocacy were present at the signing was hightlighted by Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rodr\u00edguez as &#8220;a very good signal\u201d; she was grateful for the commitment shown: \u201cfrom traffic officers on the front line, to the Mayor that takes responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the closure of the conference, the Mayor highlighted the Fundaci\u00f3n\u00b4s work in society, \u201cbecause they create a different kind of attitude, one that is different from the one we can achieve\u201d, and about the government he said, \u201cThey push us, they insist on compliance, and I think that\u00b4s the right thing to do. Because by being stubborn, they keep our eyes always wide open.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the conference, the Fundaci\u00f3n\u00b4s Research Coordinator Florencia Lambrosquini, shared, in an internal meeting, data on the mobility and infrastructure studies conducted in school surroundings in Montevideo and Canelones. Results of these studies are part of the \u201cSafe Latin American Children in Traffic\u201d carried out by the Fundaci\u00f3n with the support of the FIA Founation and will be presented on March 15 together with all provincial and national officials involved in the matter.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aiming to reduce the number of child victims in road accidents, an agreement between Fundaci\u00f3n Gonzalo Rodr\u00edguez and the Municipality of Canelones was signed on Tuesday, February 27.
