



{"id":37566,"date":"2019-11-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gonzalorodriguez.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/24fb2f7c2b407cca2f65b72ee632bcf9893b1b9f.jpg"},"modified":"2025-08-05T17:51:18","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T20:51:18","slug":"resultados-del-programa-ninos-latinoamericanos-seguros-en-el-transito","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gonzalorodriguez.org\/en\/noticias\/resultados-del-programa-ninos-latinoamericanos-seguros-en-el-transito\/","title":{"rendered":"Results of the education initiative &#8220;Latin American Children Safe in Transit&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p-copete\">The courses include the first &#8220;Virtual Training Course on Transit Safety&#8217;, a course for Physical Education teachers called &#8220;The Role of Physical Education in Teaching Transit Safety,&#8217; and the &#8220;afe Travel&#8221; workshops that Gonzalo Rodriguez Foundation rolled out in public schools.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tx-noticia\">\n<p>The objective of the \u2018Virtual Training Course on Traffic Safety\u2019 was to develop and implement an initiative that would address transit safety in scholarly circles by providing support and resources to teachers and working with the educational community. Through the course, 73 teachers and 11 directors were trained, thereby benefitting more than 3700 students. At the end of the course, the teachers were able to develop lessons to provide knowledge and skills to their students so that they could protect themselves in transit, regardless of what method of transport they were using.<\/p>\n<p>The course \u2018The Role of Physical Education in Teaching Transit Safety,\u2019 was based off of a similar approach to the aforementioned courses. 25 teachers were trained, thus impacting over 5000 students.<\/p>\n<p>As for the \u2018Safe Travel\u2019 workshops, the Foundation sought to work directly with key players in public education centers. Based on the document \u2018Advances in Transit Safety in Latin America and the Caribbean,\u2019 it was considered vital to work directly with students from an early age, using games as a teaching tool.
