The Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez took part in the Conference “Healthy, Safe, and Sustainable Mobility†in Colombia
The Road Safety Week took place in Colombia between October 24 – 28. In this country more than 5,700 children and adolescents died in the decade 2005 — 2015, according to data provided by the Ibero-American Road Safety Observatory.
Because of the experience the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez has in the country, the organization was invited to present at the conference “Healthy, Safe and Sustainable Mobility”, an activity organized by the Ministry of Health and the Pan-American Health Organization/World Health Organization of Colombia.
More than 80 representatives of public and private organizations gathered at the event, among them, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of National Education, the Colombian Academy of Pediatrics, the Health Secretariat of Bogotá, the National Traffic and Transport Police of Colombia, the Pediatrics Society and the Colombian Automobile Club. The objective was to generate a space for reflection on the actions for risk prevention in road crashes in early childhood.
In this sense, the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, represented by its Training and Institutional Relations Coordinator, Mathías Silva, conducted a presentation on vulnerability of children as car occupants and elements for the prevention of injury in school transport.
This activity was an opportunity for road safety key stakeholders from Colombia and other Latin American countries to exchange knowledge based on their experiences, presenting best practices and approaches to risk in road crashes involving children.
