Safety measures

Choosing the right Child Restraint System is often not easy, what is the difference between group 0 and group 0+, what does multi-group mean, what is a booster?

For this reason, the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez presents the "Safety Measures" campaign, which aims at raising awareness on road safety for children. The initiative, developed by the From agency, seeks to simplify information on the subject and encourage the importance of using Child Restraint Systems (CRS).

The selection of CRS varies depending on the age, size, height and weight of the child. It is important that at the time of purchase, adults are advised on which is the most suitable for each child in the vehicle. In addition, it is extremely important to verify its condition and correct placement, since if it is not suitable, in case of an accident, it does not fulfill its protective function.

By law in Uruguay, it is mandatory for children up to 1.50 m tall to use a CRS. However, only 3.7% of children between 6 and 12 years old do so. In this opportunity, the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez worked together with the main children's clothing brands to design a new code that allows adults to understand in a simpler way which CRS should be used. Based on the measurements of each clothing brand, a size was assigned to each CRS model.
