Safe Mobility Week for Motorcyclists in Catamarca

Together with the municipality of SFV de Catamarca, with the support of the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) and the Licensing Directorate (SINALIC), and within the framework of the Safe Mobility of Motorcyclists Week that we are carrying out in Catamarca, we present the beginning of the Practical Specialization Program for Instructors in Safe Motorcycle Riding, which will allow those who take it to identify themselves as specialized instructors in licenses for those vehicles. This launching is one more step in the strategy we have deployed in Argentina to address the problem of road accidents, especially focused on the most vulnerable users, such as motorcyclists. On this occasion, instructors from the provinces of La Rioja, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán are participating.

The launching ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the city, Dr. Gustavo Saadi, the person in charge of the Motorcyclist Area of ANSV, Jorge Rubino; the Provincial Referent, Sergio Leiva; and the technical coordinator of Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, Franco Azzato, who presented, among other actions, the decision to train more than 100 people in five host cities.

In his speech, the Mayor pointed out that "we must not neglect the other pandemic that is taking the lives of many Argentines, such as traffic accidents and, specifically, motorcycle accidents". And he stressed that "this type of training is essential because there is a lot of work to be done regarding the culture of responsible mobility in our city".

This specialization began to be implemented two years ago in Argentina, through the implementation of a nationwide strategy designed to promote changes in road safety and safe motorcycle riding. In addition, a government commitment was implemented aimed at generating skills in the teams of the License Issuing Centers, with the objective of achieving an improvement in the process of obtaining a driver's license, with a specific focus on the practical test.

"We focus on the reddest areas of Argentina. We want to give more knowledge and more tools to motorcycle instructors and that is what we are doing from the Fundación together with ANSV" explained Fernanda Nani Rodríguez, president of Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez.

Along with this launching, it was proposed to work throughout this week on responsible motorcycle riding with different representatives of the civil society, through a public good campaign that seeks to put the issue on the agenda and raise awareness, especially among young people, about the importance of using safety elements and instructing about rights and responsibilities on public roads. This is the result of a risk perception study that we developed between July and August of this year in different provinces of NEA/NOA/CUYO and Central Argentina, to compare the accident rate data.
